For the project to be really sustainable, the staff and supporters of the Sustainability Park Istra will have the opportunity to live at the very site. This will reduce ecological footprint, revive formerly deserted villages, and attract the young and highly educated people to the countryside.

Ecological settlement for approximately 20 people will be created at abandoned hamlet Mocunigi. The hamlet will be renovated in traditional Istrian style. Korone — the name of the of the forming village — is the name of the fields around the village. The term “korone” in the local Istrian dialect means “terraces”; these terraces are centuries-old Istrian cultural heritage, of which we can be proud of.

Eco-village Korone will be an example of sustainability in practice. In the village we will create the best possible conditions for high quality, healthy way of life, sustainable in all four aspects: ecological, economical, social and cultural.

We know that creative, connected and simple living brings about higher quality of life. The guiding principle of Korone is therefore luxurious simplicity, replacing senseless accumulation of material goods with the following four guideliness: agreement of people, harmony of space, resonance of life, and joy of co-existence.

KORONE - OUR STORY

Oriah Mountain Dreamer “The Invitation” (excerpts)

It doesn’t interest me
what you do for a living.
I want to know
what you ache for
and if you dare to dream
of meeting your heart’s longing.

It doesn’t interest me
how old you are.
I want to know
if you will risk
looking like a fool for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn’t interest me
if the story you are telling me
is true.
I want to know if you can
disappoint another
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear
the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can get up
after the night of grief and despair
weary and bruised to the bone
and do what needs to be done
to feed the children.

I want to knowif you can be alone
with yourself
and if you truly like
the company you keep
in the empty moments.
